No More Urine Testing For Truckers And Carhaulers?

New legislation is being proposed in Congress to make our roads safer..

According to an article in Truckinginfo.com urine tests for truckers, carhaulers, and transportation operators is ineffective and can be easily compromised. Investigation services did a test and found that in 20 inspection stations alone.

•     A fake id could be used to send in someone else to take the urine test
•     Almost all the testing stations did not follow proper procedures

The article is basically saying that if you want to beat the drug test system and drive a truck or trailer..you can

The proposed solution is to use hair testing which offers a higher degree of accuracy and is easier to obtain.

I would have to imagine a huge number of drivers that are using illicit drugs are already off the road or are racking up enough CSA points to be taken off soon. Regardless, there is a good chance that hair testing might become the normal in the future

AutoNation CEO: “Fat V” Recovery for Auto Sector

The automotive sector was handed major setbacks during the recession, but Mike Jackson, CEO of AutoNation, said the industry is in store for a “Fat V” recovery.“We plunged from 16 million (vehicles sold) down to 10 million in two years, and it’s going to take us about four years to get back to 16 million,” Jackson explained.Jackson, who runs the largest chain of auto dealerships in the United States, added that March was an “excellent month” at the retail level.“I think March is going to break through 12 million units,” he said.He noted that 12 million is still a “depression-level number” but said the rise from last year’s sales is a confirmation of the recovery. He also said incentives would enhance March's sales results.
